Let's celebrate Kansas 150th birthday!!!

The purpose of this site is to encourage library staff to help their community celebrate Kansas 150th birthday.

We hope you will start celebrating on Friday, January 28th.

Here is the link to the birthday party: LINK
The link will work after 1:30 pm on January 28.

At 2pm on Friday, January 28th, there will be a statewide online celebration that will include:
  • Statewide singing "Happy Birthday, Kansas" in libraries across Kansas. I hope people sleeping in commercial airliners flying overhead will wake up and look out the windows to see who is singing. But the measure of success will be people in other states calling the Kansas governor's office to complain about the noise.
  • A Kansas Trivia Game with Merci Penner, founder of the Kansas Sampler Festival and Kansas trivia expert.
  • Statewide singing "Home on the Range."

But the BEST celebration will be the celebration in libraries.

I hope library staff will provide refreshments and activities.

Here is a flyer for an event on Friday, January 28, 2010.

Don't forget to invite the media to come to your event.
